Presenters: Siegfried Handschuh is a research fellow at the DERI, Galway (Digital Enterprise Research Institute) and National University of Ireland, Galway. His current research interests include annotations in the semantic web, knowledge acquisition and social semantic desktops. He is currently leading the DERI work in the NEPOMUK (http://nepomuk.semanticdesktop.org/) project. Previously he worked at the FZI in the HALO 2 project, and at the AIFB (University of Karlsruhe)in the OntoAgents project in the DARPA DAML program. He was also involved in a number of EU funded project such as Dot.Kom and aceMedia. He has chaired several workshops on semantic annotation and is co-editor of the book "Annotation for the Semantic Web".

Thierry Declerck is a senior consultant at the Language Technology Lab of the DFKI (German research center for artificial intelligence) His current research work is dedicated to automatic semantic annotation of text and multimedia material in the Web, and also to the automatic extraction of semantic relations from text. He is leading the DFKI contribution to the European Network of Excellence “K-Space” (Knowledge Space of Semantic Inference for Automatic Annotation and Retrieval of Multimedia Content), investigating the ontology-driven integration of textual and multimedia features.
